The Weekend of Nuttiness Approaches

We’re almost there! Just one more day for our house settlement to get finalised. Finally! It has been a hard slog to get there, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have the day off tomorrow to finish packing and start moving some things, like my millions of plants, once everything is settled. Then it’s off to the country. Ahhhhh.

I keep getting the Peaches song stuck in my head: “Moving to the country, gonna eat me a lot of peaches”…

The feijoas have suddenly gone nuts here, and I have taken a bag to work after only the third harvest. Almost everyone likes a nice feijoa snack. I was pondering whether I should take a stash to the new house, but that question was answered yesterday when we did our pre-purchase inspection. Under the feijoa tree lay a beautiful carpet of untouched feijoas. Well, until The Husband started standing on them. I am starting to dream of feijoa crumbles and feijoa pies. Soon. Soon.

Feijoas
Feijoas anyone?

This evening, after sorting out our house stuff with the lawyer and the bank, I came home to find a present. I had won and been posted a book called Quake Cats, the exact source of the competition of which I cannot remember. I think I may have entered a lot of competitions lately. This was a nice surprise and it is always good to have memoirs of the Christchurch Earthquakes, which we were very much a part of. The book tells the stories, with lots of photos, of cats that have been through the quakes. I haven’t had much time to look at it yet, but it should be a good coffee table book.

Quake Cats
A nice book to win.

Things might be a little quiet on here as we move and get settled in, but rest assured, there will be plenty of nuttiness going on…
